Perk Pomeyie and Gloria Agyare of the Ghana Youth Environmental Movement (GYEM) joined us on the GLC podcast to have an in-depth conversation on Water and Sanitation in Ghana. This is Part 2 of a 2-part series with GYEM.

GYEM is a leading youth-led environmental policy advocacy and non-violent campaign group in Ghana. It exists to mobilise and organise young people to solve the environmental challenges in our communities and address the global climate emergency.

Perk Pomeyie is an environmental activist with six years of experience in grassroots mobilising, Non-Violent Direct Actions (NVDA), designing communication strategies for environmental movements & organisations, and policy advocacy. Perk is a Freelance Graphic Designer with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. He is also a 2020 Civicus Youth Action Lab Alumni.

Gloria Agyare is an environmentalist and aspiring food technologist with experience in youth education and engagement and cross-sectoral community-based project management in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and climate change. She speaks widely on agriculture and climate change issues, interested in women and youth inclusion in decision-making concerning the environment and food systems. Miss Agyare is currently the Programmes Officer for Ghana Youth Environmental Movement (GYEM) and a Fellow of the Young Africa Leaders Initiative (YALI), West Africa. She has a degree in Agriculture from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). She is currently working on a framework to start a photoblog on issues broadly related to Agriculture and Food Systems.
